Brass Tacks to perform at national music festival.

08/06/2005

BATH & North East Somerset Council’s Schools County Brass Band – Brass Tacks – have been invited to perform at the 35th National Festival of Music for Youth at the Symphony Hall in Birmingham on Thursday, July 14.

Brass Tacks was formed about five years ago and is a mixed group of around 45 musicians aged between nine and 18 from a selection of primary and secondary schools in Bath & North East Somerset.

The band does not rehearse weekly as its members are involved in other groups organised by Bath & North East Somerset Council’s Music Service including the Bath Society of Young Musicians, Symphonic Wind Band and the Schools’ Philharmonic Orchestra.

Consequently Brass Tacks only have about 11 rehearsals a year but have reached a very high standard of musicianship – hence the invitation to perform at this prestigious event in Birmingham.

For tickets and more information call the Box Office on Tel: 0121 7803333.
