Party in the Paddock

EVENTS PLANNED FOR DORSET & SOMERSET
AIR-AMBULANCE ANNIVERSARY.

Dorset and Somersets Air-Ambulance celebrates its 5th birthday this year having flown nearly 3000 missions since March 2000.
To help with fundraising for this charitable trust two local events are planned by a small team near Ston Easton.

Paul & Sharon Emery have developed “Party In The Paddock” an outdoor family music festival over the last two years and 2005 shows an exciting programme of events.

Paul says “ we start off on Saturday May 21st with a 70s/80s glam night featuring music from Glambusters and an extremely funny comedy trio called Tomfoolery - this will be at Chilcompton Village Hall with prizes for best glam - dressed, this should be a real fun evening.

Then moving on to Saturday August 20th at Manor Farm, Clapton we are holding our Party-In-The-Paddock an outdoor music festival. This year we have a selection of bands to suit all family tastes. These include Millennium a Robbie Williams tribute that has featured on TV,and Counterfeit Quo the most staggering tribute band we have seen in a long while.”

Behind the planning they are supported by some thirty stewards and officials including Dave Sprinks as Chief Steward co-ordinator and Paul Cosh as Event Liason Officer.

But it is not all easy going when trying to fund raise for such a worthy cause as the Air-Ambulance.

Paul goes on to say “we have to approach companies and try to discuss rates for hiring of equipment and place deposits this has to come from somewhere so we need to fund raise so we can all chip in our little bit.”
As Paul works as a Police Community Support Officer for the Frome East Mendips quarrying villages he has seen first hand of the excellent work the Air-Ambulance crew and staff carryout.

“When they attend such things as road accidents the pilot can land the helicopter on something half the size of a tennis court the manoverability and skill of the pilot is fantastic. With the crew on-board they can treat causalities and get people to hospital faster giving better chances of speedy recovery.”

Even though the events are already underway the organisers still need the help from local businesses, sponsors and helpers so if anyone is interested please contact 07812 150587 or email info@partyinthepaddock.com

Party In The Paddock 2005 will be opened by Mr Acker Bilk MBE, other bands performing will be, local singer songwriter Helena, Dragonsfly, FAB208 and Wells Blue School sixth formers Mad About Alice.

“We have had some amazing raffle prizes donated” says Paul, “I have been in contact with original status quo drummer John Coughlan, Chris Tarrant, and Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall they have all been helpful in donating some sort of prize for the event. I am sure it will prove to be great events we have an amazing light show planned also to accompany the bands these will cater for all musical tastes.” GWR FM will also be there with The Black Thunders.
